Editor,
Grazing and haying are commercial uses in our Beaver Creek Park that have substantial impacts on the economic and ecological circumstances of the park and should be of interest and concern to the citizens of Hill County that own the park.
A “first reading” of the Grazing and Haying ordinance occurred Thursday, May 16, at the Hill County Commissioners business meeting. There should now have been a posting of “Notice for Public Inspection and Comment.” A copy of the proposed ordinance should be available at the Hill County Courthouse.
There has to be a “second reading” before the ordinance will be approved which is likely on May 30, before the next Park Board meeting. So to review or comment, now is the time and there will not be another opportunity for the owners to participate in this matter of Beaver Creek Park.
Comments need to be directed to the Hill County Commissioners at this time since the opportunities to comment to the Park Board and Grazing Committee are not going to be recognized in a timely manner in consideration of how this proposed ordinance was developed.
The citizen owners need to demonstrate to the Commissioners and others that they do care and need and want to be involved in policies development and management of our Beaver Creek Park.
