Nasty spring weather isn't done yet, and it's going to have a profound effect on Havre High's tennis and softball teams.
Both Blue Pony sports are scheduled to play their respective divisional tournaments in Lewistown this week, but with a lot of rain in the forecast, schedules have been altered.
The HHS tennis teams were originally supposed to play their Central A Divisional Tournament Thursday and Friday in Lewistown, but that tournament has been pushed up to today and Wednesday. The tournament is slated to start at 1 p.m. today, and run through Wednesday evening. In years past, when Lewistown is the host of the Central A, the tournament has had the indoor courts in either Bozeman or Great Falls has part of a rain plan, but this week, the Class B-C state tournament is being held at Montana State University in Bozeman, and the Class AA state tournament is being played in Great Falls, so neither of those two facilities is an option.
Meanwhile, the Havre High softball team's Central A tourney was originally slated to be played out Saturday in Lewistown. But the forecast is calling for a lot of wet weather over the weekend, so the tournament has been pushed up to Thursday. The tournament, which features Havre, Lewistown, Belgrade and Livingston, is still planned to be played over the course of one day.
As for the Havre High track and field teams, the Ponies are heading to Belgrade Friday for the Eastern A Divisional. The meet will begin Friday afternoon and run through Saturday. No changes have been made to that schedule as of now, as track meets can be conducted in some bad weather.
Area District 9C track teams are also back on the track at this week's Northern C Divisional in Great Falls. The meet is scheduled for Thursday at Memorial Stadium, and no changes have been announced for that meet either.
