Junior Sway Byrd is one of Havre High School's April 2019 students of the months
The daughter of Amy Byrd and Robert Murphy, Sway has two younger siblings - Joey, 15, and Adrianna, 4.
Sway is a member of the Havre High choir and the M.B.I. team. She also participates in Special Olympics and volunteers at the Sunnyside Intermediate School day care. Her hobbies and interests include reading, spending time with family, as well as watching and supporting her friends and brother as they play sports.
Sway was nominated by Rachel Haug for being "a very kind and caring student." Haugsaid Sway "works hard in class and is always willing to help others." Haug said she has seen Sway grow and develop into an amazing person and she knows Sway will do great things.
Sway's plans for the future include volunteering and possibly working at the Havre Day Activity Center in the recycling center.
Senior Kassidy Compton is Havre High School's other April 2019 student of the month.
The daughter of Kelly and Robert Compton, Kassidy has two older siblings - Michael, 22, and Kate-Lyn, 19.
Kassidy is heavily involved in Havre High activities, having participated in basketball, tennis, pep-club and yearbook. Outside of school, she takes part in 4-H, 4-H exchange, while also helping out on the family farm. Her hobbies include basketball, tennis, playing any sports with friends, going to the lake, fishing and watching baseball in the summer.
Kassidy was nominated by Mandy Nitz because, "even ... with the end of her senior year fast approaching, she remains self-directed and motivated to do her best." Nitz said Kassidy is "a great example of Pony Pride and the best kind of Havre High student."
Kassidy plans to attend Montana State University-Northern to pursue a nursing degree.
