MSU-N rodeo teams ready for Big Sky Finals

The season is winding down for the Montana State University-Northern rodeo teams. And last weekend in Missoula was the Lights and Skylight's final tuneup for the upcoming Big Sky Region Finals.

The Northern teams were in Missoula last weekend for the University of Montana Rodeo.

Northern junior clay Doney finished an outstanding second in team roping, to lead the Lights. Senior Shane Birdrattler also took fourth place in saddle bronc riding, while Zane Marcenko was seventh in the steer wrestling.

Heading into the Big Sky Region Finals, the Northern men are currently in fifth place in the overall standings, and the MSU-N women are also in fifth place.

In the individual standings, Birdrattler currently sits in seventh place in saddle bronc, Liam Marshall is fourth in bareback riding, George Marcenko is seventh and Zane Marcenko is 11th in tie-down roping, and also sits 13th in steer wrestling. Doney is eighth in team roping, and Jayne Keeley is ninth in goat-tying.

The 2019 Big Sky Region Finals will be hosted by University of Providence this Friday and Saturday inside the Four Seasons Arena In Great Falls.
