The Montana State University-Northern athletic department held its annual awards banquet last week, culminating with the announcement of the Northern Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards.
MSU-N senior wrestler Brandon Weber was named Male Athlete of the Year, while sophomore basketball player Peyton Kehr was named Female Athlete of the Year.
Weber wrapped up an incredible run at Northern last month by becoming an NAIA All-American for the third time, and by reaching his third straight national championship match at 157 pounds.
Weber, originally from Forsyth, wrestled for Northern head coach Tyson Thivierge for four season, and in the last three, he won a national championship, and finished runner-up twice.
Kehr just finished her sophomore season for the Skylights, of head coach Chris Mouat.
Hailing from Columbia Falls, Kehr averaged 14 points per game, led the Skylights in scoring, and was Top 15 in the Frontier Conference in five different categories during the 2018-19 season.
For her efforts, Kehr was named Frontier All-Conference for the season, and also earned Frontier Women's Player of the Week honors back in November.
