The H. Earl Clack and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation is holding its annual Hands on History and Digging up History Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Both events will take place at the Holiday Village Mall. The Hands on History event will take place inside the mall with more than 21 stations for children to learn about history in a fun way. Children will be able to learn about things like candle making, how to rope, old-fashioned phones and typewriters.
“Several stations will be free of charge thanks to our generous community sponsors, while a few will have a small fee to participate,” foundation member Erica Farmer said.
Hands on History is an event that was started 12 years ago and has become very popular with children. Digging Up History is a newer event that was only established two years ago.
For $10, participants of any age will have the chance for a limited amount of time to dig through dirt with an excavator for items that can be exchanged for prizes. Farmer said. Prizes will be given for certain categories. Farmer said that they have added horse-drawn hay rides from the Holiday Village Mall to the Digging up History site, near the Verizon Wireless store.
“These two events are fundraisers, and the money raised will go to help support the Clack Museum and the Wahkpu Chu’gn Buffalo Jump,” Farmer said.
