Hundreds of college and high school students descended on Montana State University-Northern this week as it hosts the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference for the 47th time.
SkillsUSA is a career and technical service organization aimed at complementing technical skills training provided by high schools and colleges.
The conference includes events in a variety of fields including automotive, culinary arts, speaking, welding and engineering.
Students perform a set of tasks in timed events in front of a panel of judges, who then determine who receives a gold, silver and bronze medal.
The conference culminates in an award ceremony Wednesday.
The top students in each category qualify for the National Conference June 24-28 in Louisville, Kentucky, and compete against students from 53 states and territories.
