The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board discussed the Hands on History and Digging Up History set for this weekend during its monthly meeting Monday.
Both events will be held at the Holiday Village Mall. Hands on History will feature a more than a dozen of activities for young kids. Some of these activities will cost money, with all the money going back to the museum. Digging up History will give kids the opportunity to dig for bones that can be exchanged for prizes.
The board is also planning an upcoming tea fundraiser. The event is scheduled for May 11 at 1 p.m. and is open to anyone. Tickets are available at $25 or a table of eight for $200. This year’s theme is legacy.
“The tea is open to everyone, not just the ladies,” board Chair Lela Patera said.
The board also discussed Living History, set for June 1. Many locations are offering tours and activities for community members and tourists of all ages. Event details are still be worked out
As they prepare for the upcoming activities, the board members said, they are looking to fill some positions. They will try to recruit some volunteer help during the job fair April 16 at Havre High School from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.They have also posted their open Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump tour guide position at several locations but have not received any applicants.
During the meeting, H. Earl and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation President Elaine Morse gave an update on the ongoing process of remodeling the future location of the museum, in the former Griggs Printing Building on the 10 Block of Fifth Avenue.
A building inspector reviewed the facility and noted asbestos abatement is needed. No major abatement projects are needed, but, it was determined that the tile flooring has to be removed.
Now the foundation is starting the process of accepting bids to get the work done, Morse said.
