Community can support CASA volunteers at Pizza Hut

From Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hill County

Child abuse can seem like a big problem, sometimes too big to get a handle on, but Thursday, April 11, it will be easy for everyone in Havre to help abused children.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA, is a member of the community who is appointed to serve a child who has been abused or neglected and removed from their home for no fault of their own. A CASA works with a single child or sibling group, to monitor, to advocate and to facilitate, always with the child’s best interest in mind. By focusing on one child at a time, the CASA volunteer can provide information about a specific child which is often missing in the courtroom.

A CASA meets the child and gets to know the child. A CASA becomes a voice for the child and is always looking out for the child — in court, in meetings and in their home. A CASA works to be the constant, to be the one who is always on the child’s team, the one who is fighting for what is best for the child.

Thursday, people can help support the local CASA program and the volunteer-advocates who are helping children like these.

People purchasing from Havre’s Pizza Hut can mention CASA while paying for a dine-in or carry-out order, and the restaurant will donate 20 percent of the purchase price to help support CASA and further their work for abused children.
