Montana health care program receiving nearly $2 million

The Montana Family Planning Program will receive nearly $2 million in federal grant money, U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., announced, enabling the program to provide affordable reproductive health care to thousands of low-income Montanans.   

  The grant, worth $1.9 million, is administered through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and will help provide family planning and reproductive health services to women across Montana.

  “This funding will help provide Montana women and families with the quality, affordable health care they need,” Tester said. “Investing in Title X programs is critical to keeping Montanans healthy.”

  Title X funding supports 25 health centers across Montana and helps provide basic primary and preventive health care services — including contraception, breast exams and HIV testing — to approximately 20,000 Montanans each year.

  As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Tester has led the charge to invest in this critical program, securing more than $280 million in Title X funding this year. Tester has also pushed back hard against the Trump Administration’s efforts to limit access to Title X funding and helped defeat legislation allowing states to withhold this critical funding from certain women’s health clinics.
