Friends and family of a woman severely injured in a February car rollover are challenging people to "Bring the Heat" Sunday to a medical benefit to help her pay expenses for her medical care and rehabilitation.

Friends of Havre businesswoman Makenna Cody said she is back in Havre, recovering and undergoing therapy but still has a long way to go for full recovery.

She suffered severe head injuries from the crash, a rollover Feb. 3 while she was coming back to Havre from Billings.

Cody, 21, is a personal trainer and fitness coach at The Zoo in Havre and also has started her own business.

The benefit at the Eagles is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with people invited to enter their chili at a participation fee of $25. Up to $150 in prizes, depending on the number of entries, will be awarded for the top chili.

People are invited to taste-test the chili and vote for their top two with a free-will donation requested for the tasting.

Silent and live auctions also will be held and the drawing for a gun raffle. Participants must be eligible to purchase a gun in Montana or they will forfeit the prize if they win the gun raffle drawing.

An account in which people can donate to help with her expenses also has been created at Bear Paw Credit Union, "Makenna Cody Benefit," and a GoFundMe account also has been created, https://www.gofundme.com/makennastronger/.
