SHELBY — Montana Department of Transportation is seeking comments on a proposal to rebuild about 10.4 miles of Secondary Highway 343 approximately 19 miles north of Galata in Toole County.
The project begins at the intersection with Green Hill School Road at reference post 32.9 and extends north and then turns west for a total of 10.6 miles, ending just west of the intersection with Montana Highway 217 at reference post 22.2, Strawberry Road.
Proposed work includes earthwork, drainage, surfacing, pavement markings, signing, and finishing with a seal and cover — chip seal. The purpose of the project is to reconstruct the current High/Wide truck route to a plant mix surface and current design standards.
The project is scheduled for construction in June 2019.
Right-of-way acquisition is complete and utility relocations are anticipated to be completed prior to the beginning of construction.
