The AgriBusiness Committee of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce recently read and introduced 18 new agricultural-themed books Wednesday to seven classes of first-graders at Highland Park Early Primary School.
Committee members teamed up for the reading with members of Montana State University-Northern's Postsecondary Agricultural Students Club. The first-grade students were also offered chocolate milk and graham crackers and informed about the many contributions agriculture provides for them and the world.
This is the ninth year the AgriBusiness Committee has conducted the "Read & Feed." It usually schedules the event around National Agriculture Week and the first day of spring.
Over the years, the AgriBusiness Committee has donated approximately $2,400 to the elementary school for the purchase of around 150 agricultural-themed, early elementary books for use in their school library.
The read and feed follows the mission of the Havre AgriBusiness Committee, "To recognize the agricultural industry through education and promotion within the community."
