Havre's Veis receives Montana's Technologist of the Year Award

School Administrators of Montana and the Montana Educational Technology Association — META — announced Friday that Havre Public Schools Senior Information Technology Director Kelly Veis, was selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 META Technologist of the Year at the fifth annual Montana Educational Technologists Association’s METAtechED Spring Conference held March 18-19 in Helena.

Thes award was established to recognize the fine achievements and successes of Montana K-12 school technologists.  META awards this honor to a technologist who has had a significant impact on the future technology readiness of their school district, who exhibits an exemplary level of collegiality and leadership and who displays the ability to create change within their district.

Veis is highly regarded with the Havre School District, the Hi-Line META region, and the Montana technology community as an expert in Infinite Campus. She is often sought out by other school districts for assistance and to help train individuals in using the student management system and has been a driving force in helping all users implement Infinite Campus to better serve the students of Havre Public Schools. Veis also manages the Havre School District website. This past summer the district website was 100 percent in compliance with The Americans With Disabilities Act.

“There is no such thing as pretty good or close,” Havre Public Schools Superintendent Andy Carlson said in his nomination. “Everything Kelly does, she does to the highest level possible and she is consistently seeking out ways to make our school district better.”

Veis is an active member of META and has served as a co-director of the Hi-Line region since 2016. She hosts META regional meetings and provides a place for school technologists to discuss needs and brainstorm new ideas.

META is comprised of educational technologists united for the purpose of advocating for and supporting the visions, policies, practices, and funding for technology within all aspects of teaching, learning, and professional productivity and supporting the education of all Montana children.

META and the School Administrators of Montana members congratulate Veis for being selected to receive this award.
