The 2018-19 Frontier Conference women's basketball season officially came to a close Monday night, with Carroll College beating UM-Western in the championship game. On Tuesday morning, the league announced its postseason awards and women's All-Conference Team, and two Montana State University-Northern Skylights were honored.
MSU-N sophomore Sydney Hovde was named the 2018-19 Frontier Newcomer of the Year. Hovde, originally from Columbia Falls, transferred to Northern from North Idaho College, averaged 11 points and eight rebounds per game in her first season for the Skylights. Hovde also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
Kehr's former Columbia Falls teammate Peyton Kehr was also named Honorable Mention All-Conference this season. Kehr averaged 14 points per game, which was tops for the Skylights.
Western's Brianna King was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year for a second straight season. King averaged more than 22 points per game and also led the Frontier in steals and was second in assists. UM-W's Lindsay Woolley was named Frontier Coach of the Year. Carroll College's Hannah Dean and Rocky Mountain College's Alecia Chamberlain were named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, while Montana Tech's Mollie Peoples was named Sixth Player of the Year while Rocky's Kloie Thatcher was named Freshman of the Year.
Former Havre Blue Pony Dani Wagner was named Second Team All-Conference, while Northern's Lily Hilderbrand was given the Champions of Character award.
