Local News - Preservation award nominations being accepted

Press release

Nominations for the 21st Annual Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Award are being accepted from Feb. 1 through March 31.

The award is meant to recognize and appreciate the efforts of those who have worked hard to restore, rehabilitate and preserve our precious, irreplaceable Hill County history and heritage through its buildings and historic sites.

The Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Award, a registered trademark of High Line Heritage Resources, is for buildings and sites located within the borders of Hill County. Listing on the National Register of Historic Places is not required. Criteria for the award can be obtained by contacting High Line Heritage Resources. Buildings and sites must date prior to 1970 to be considered for the award. Buildings and sites that have received the award in the past are ineligible.

People nominated for the award will be contacted for acceptance. The Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Award will be presented in May during National Historic Preservation Month. Among other activities scheduled for National Historic Preservation Month are North Side and East End History Gathering sessions, posting photographs of old and historic buildings on High Line Heritage Resources Facebook page, the 2019 Season Opening of Havre Historic Tours, with the celebration ending with the communitywide Living History Day June 1.

Signed nominations are to be mailed to High Line Heritage Resources, 124 Third St., Havre, MT 59501.

People can contact Emily Mayer at 399-5225 for more information.
