Havre Police Department

Officers were called to First Street Northeast Monday at 7:56 a.m. to provide assistance.

Someone stopped at the police station to speak with an officer Monday at 8:56 a.m. about an assault.

A Fourth Street caller reported Monday at 11:36 a.m. finding drug paraphernalia.

At 1:25 p.m. Monday, a BNSF Railway caller reported a non-emergency diesel fuel spill into a containment pit.

--

A Fourth Street caller at 2:33 p.m. Monday reported someone violating conditions of their release.

--

A vehicle crash on Fifth Avenue between a white Dodge pickup and a white minivan was reported by U.S. Border Patrol dispatch Monday at 4:33 p.m.

John Joseph Bear Jr. of Havre, 30, was issued a summons on charges of driving without a driver's license and obstructing a peace officer or other public servant, during a vehicle stop on Second Street Monday at 4:46 p.m. Bear was arrested on the charges and taken to Hill County Detention Center, after a vehicle stop on First Street at 10:56 p.m.

A caller reported a non-injury vehicle crash between a Chevrolet Impala and a Chevrolet pickup truck at First Street and Seventh Avenue Monday at 5:35 p.m.

A caller at a Fifth Avenue facility reported a missing iPhone Monday at 7:23 p.m. and the tracker showed it moving around town.

Hill County Sheriff's Office

Donald Victor Lamere of Havre, 48, was arrested on a Justice or City court warrant served at the detention center Monday at 8:26 a.m.

A Monday 3:36 p.m. report of a hit-and-run vehicle crash at a U.S. Highway 2 West business was referred to another agency.

--

An arrest was made after a shoplifter was reported Monday at 4:10 p.m. at a U.S. Highway 2 West business, but no details were provided on the charges.

--

A hit-and-run vehicle crash reported at a facility on Old Post Road Monday at 9:32 p.m. was referred to another agency.

Deputies took a dog to the county animal shelter after a Fifth Street North caller reported a dog was barking and out in the elements Monday at 10:48 p.m.

Zane Jay Pasma of Twin Bridges, 58, was arrested on charges of assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, after a Fifth Street North caller reported suspicious activity at 11:27 p.m. Monday.

Deputies looked into a drug offense reported at 3:10 a.m. today at the detention center.

Havre Fire Department

Emergency medical personnel responded to two calls Monday.

A fire crew responded to a gas smell on the 1400 Block of Second Street Monday at 4:31 p.m. No smell was detected.

A fire crew responded to a gas smell reported at a business on the 100 Block of Third Avenue West Monday at 6:01 p.m. Havre Assistant Fire Chief Kelly Jones said that whiffs of something could be smelled and NorthWestern Energy was called in, but no gas leak was determined. Jones said that, in extreme cold, regulators on gas meters can vent, and this might have been the source of the smell.

Firefighters and an ambulance responded to a possible carbon monoxide report Monday at 9:27 p.m. on the 1100 Block of 17th Street. Residents had used a heater under their house to thaw pipes and were worried that they had a carbon monoxide problem in their home. Firefighters could not detect a problem so called in NorthWestern and they also said the home was OK.

Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 1:39 a.m. today. No CO was detected and the alarm didn't register a problem after reset. Malfunction of CO alarms may be attributed to the cold weather, Jones said.

Havre Animal Shelter

The Havre shelter this morning held two medium-hair cats, two long-hair 7-month-old kittens, one long-hair 9-month-old kitten and a medium-hair 6-month-old kitten all of unknown gender, one medium-hair female cat, four medium-hair male cats, one long-hair male cat and one short-hair male cat.

The Havre shelter also held this morning a female mixed-breed dog, a male border collie 9-month-old puppy, female shepherd-Labrador retriever dog, a male golden retriever dog, a male mixed-breed 13-week-old puppy, two male pit bull terrier dogs and a male mixed-breed 24-week-old puppy.
