Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

McKenzie Clark, Fort Benton Girls Basketball

The Fort Benton Longhorns seem to love playing inside the HHS gymnasium. And McKenzie Clark certainly agrees. Clark scored 13 points in Saturday's 9C girls tournament championship game, as the Longhorns beat Box Elder for the title for the second straight year. A junior, Clark averaged over 10 ppg at the 9C tournament, as Fort Benton repeated as district champions. Clark, who also stars in volleyball and track and field for Fort Benton, will now try to help the Longhorns advance to the state tournament at this week's Northern C in Great Falls.

Cord Schneider, Chinook Boys Basketball

Chinook senior Cord Schneider already knew what it felt like to hoist the District 9C championship trophy, but he didn’t mind doing it for a second time. Schneider scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Sugarbeeters beat Fort Benton in the 9C championship game Saturday night. One night earlier, Schneider scored 26 points as Chinook turned away Hays-Lodge Pole in the semifinals, and for his last 9C tourney, the big man averaged 15 points and nine rebounds over three games.
