Benefits set for Makenna Cody

Proceeds to help with medical expenses related to Feb. 3 car crash

Editor’s note: This version corrects that a raffle for three guns is separate from a benefit being held at the Havre Eagles Club.

A series of benefits starting with a Pizza Hut Fundraiser Thursday have been set up to help pay for a Havre businesswoman's recovery from a Feb. 3 car crash.

Makenna Cody suffered severe head injuries from the crash, a rollover while she was coming back to Havre from Billings, her friend Kevin Miller said.

She was Mercy Flighted to a Great Falls hospital, and was unconscious for some time. Miller said she has woken up, but she has "a long and difficult recovery ahead."

He said doctors are optimistic about her recovery, and she has insurance, but still needs help with expenses and lost wages.

Cody, 21, is a personal trainer and fitness coach at The Zoo in Havre and has started her own business, Miller said.

An account in which people can donate to help with her expenses has been created at Bear Paw Credit Union, "Makenna Cody Benefit," and a GoFundMe account also has been created, https://www.gofundme.com/makennastronger/.

Thursday, when people making a purchase for dine-in or carry-out food at Pizza Hut say they are donating to Cody, 20 percent of the purchase price will go to her account.
