Sheeran featured artist in Artitudes

Artitudes Gallery is hosting artist Candy Sheeran's show "Real Reflects Real" for the months of February and March.

An artist reception will be held Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to view Sheeran's work, listen to live music, partake in refreshments and visit with the artist.

Arittudes is located on the upper Level of the Atrium, Mall at 220 Third Ave. in Havre.

Sheeran is from Alaska, saying she was there before statehood, and commercial fished, trapped and hunted. Her grandfather has been feautred in National Geographic Magazine with his Alaskan produce ship and her grandmother was a volunteer teacher, giving away most of Grandpa's produce to the Indians on Ketchikan. Her dad was a tugboat captain and her mother was a volunteer teacher and is now a chef.

Sheeran said she earned a Merchant Marine card with the Coast Guard. She learned to fly and began volunteer work flying in the Alaska Bush. She is an instructor and mechanic. She worked on the Exxon Valdez oil spill and one year flew missionaries from Miami to Bermuda. Flying through the Bermuda Triangle caused her compass to spin, but she hid her panic from the passengers. She earned a "Doctor of Natural Medicine" certificate in 2018, here in Montana.

She is involved in movies being made in Montana, such as "Yellowstone" being filmed in Darby. She is also involved with the Martin Scorsese movie "The Irishman," about her uncle Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, who said on his deathbead he murdered Jimmy Hoffa. The movie is based on the book "I Heard You Paint Houses".

Candy Sheeran said some incredibly sad deaths have made her stay in volunteer work.

"When I'm helping others, my problems don't exist" is her motto.
