Winter finally hits north-central Montana

Families were out taking advantage of the first wintry weather to hit the area in weeks Monday during the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday, doing some sledding in Havre, and it looks like the snow will stick around for a while, forecasters say.

National Weather Service reported the Havre station at the Havre-Hill County Airport received 3.3 inches of snow Monday, bringing the total for January to 5.6 inches, mostly in the storms that started late last week.

Havre had received only 1.3 inches of snow in December and none in January before last week.
