Letter to the Editor - Thanks, Chinook, for beating blood drive goal

Hey, Chinook, we did it!

Each donation can save up to three lives. Because of your generosity, 126 lives will be saved. There were 48 individuals who showed up to donate at the blood drive Tuesday, Jan. 8. There were two deferrals, making our total number of pints donated 46, exceeding our goal of 42 by four. These numbers are really something to celebrate and we are grateful for each and every one of you who made our success possible.

Jim Inman reached 16 gallons at this drive, Louise Nissen 6 gallons, Roger Fischer 3 gallons and Evelyn Schubert 1 gallon. Great job.

The canteen was hosted by the National Honor Society and those tending to the goodies throughout the afternoon were Laura Kellam, advisor, Raynee Hasler, Courtney Hanson, Natalia Pomeroy, Meghan Molyneaux, Kendra McMaster, Larissa Getten, Abigail Hamilton, Kristin Friede, Brendan Edwards, Ashley MacLeod and Lincy Johnson. The goodies were, as always, enjoyed by all of our donors, volunteers and guests. We are all so happy to have had you participate in this important aspect of the blood drive.

Pastor Jack Mattingly and the United Methodist Church once again so graciously provided the site for the drive at Wallner Hall. Setup for the drive was accomplished by Carla Jenewein and Judy Johnson. Cleanup for this drive, as well as the past two drives, was made possible by Chrissy Downs and the Jump Youth Group. There are a lot of tables and chairs to move around and their willingness to assist is appreciated more than you know.

Door prizes were donated by the National Honor Society, Shores Floral, Ace Hardware, North Central Montana Cattlewomen and Donna Murdy. Taking home door prices were Jacob Huckabee, Evelyn Schubert, Elaine Hamilton, Vikki Tilleman, Walt Bold, Roger Fisher, Sally Halingstad, Kayla Hudon and Beckie Schroeder.

Others who most certainly need to be recognized for their willingness to contribute to the smooth running of the drive each time are the ladies at the welcome table: Donna Murdy, Judy Johnson and Patti Treftz. And Paulette Keller, I can always count on you to get those beef gift certificates delivered to me promptly before each drive.

To each and every one of you, my gratitude for your willingness to donate and to participate in one way or another is unending. I apologize in advance if I have forgotten anybody.

Carla Jenewein
