Stamper-Windy Boy selected for All-Northwest performing group

Havre High School choir member Raelie Stamper-Windy Boy, alto 1, has been selected to perform in the 2019 NAfME All-Northwest mixed choir performing group in Portland, Oregon.

Stamper-Windy Boy, who studies choir with Havre High teacher Danielle Stoll, will meet the more-than 1,000 other participants of the All-Northwest high school bands, orchestras and choirs in Portland Feb. 14-17. The performers will rehearse and perform in concert under the direction of world-renowned conductors.

The All-Northwest musicians were selected from more than 4,370 students who auditioned to participate in the event, which is managed by the Washington Music Educators Association.

Many professional musicians credit their experience in the event as crucial to their deciding to make music their career, and others who pursued other careers say they have great memories of All-Northwest and that it was a life-changing experience for them. Some of the people who have participated include trumpeters Doc Severinson and Allen Vizzuti, jazz saxophonist Kenny G, Pulitzer-prize winning editorial cartoonist and columnist David Horsey and 2008 National Teacher of the Year Andrea Peterson.
