Lane Paulson has always had dreams of wrestling in college. Now, not only will he fulfill that dream, he’ll do it in his hometown.
Monday, Montana State University-Northern head wrestling coach Tyson Thivierge announced that Paulson, a senior at Havre High, has signed an NAIA national letter of intent to continue his career with the Lights.
Paulson is currently in the final season of an outstanding career at HHS. He’s ranked second in Class A at 138 pounds, and is also a two-time All-State performer.
As a sophomore Paulson reached the 126-pound Class A state championship match, then, last season, he placed third at 132 pounds. Paulson also reached the state tourney as a freshman, and is a three-time Eastern A divisional placer.
Paulson has also wrestled at amateur tournaments around the country with the Havre Wrestling Club over the years, and, as a Blue Pony, has helped Havre to two state championships and a runner-up finish in his HHS career.
Signing with Northern, Paulson joins former Blue Ponies Jase Stokes and Ryan Stewart on the Light's roster.
