The Havre High wrestling team is about to get back to work after the Christmas break. But four Blue Ponies got in a little mat time during the holidays.
Havre's Mick Chagnon, Lane Paulson, Martin Wilkie and Connor Harris all participated in the Montana All-Star Dual, which was held last Saturday in the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls.
Competing for the East Team, the Blue Ponies were perfect against the West. Chagnon beat Butte's Keegan Gransbury 10-5, Paulson took down CMR's Carter Carroll, 8-2, Wilkie beat arch rival Kai Stewart of CMR, 12-3 and Harris won 8-4 over GFH's Caden Hilliard.
The Blue Ponies make their 2019 debut Friday and Saturday at the Cut bank Invitational.
In other wrestling news, Havre's Parker Filius continues to battle for the Purdue Boilermakers. Last week, Purdue took part in the South Beach Dual Meet where Filius went 1-3. In his redshirt freshman season, Filius also competed at the Cliff Keen Nationals last month in Las Vegas, as well as the Boilermaker's Big 10 opener against Iowa.
Filius and the 13th-ranked Boilermakers return to action Jan. 11 at home against Maryland.
