Montana FFA GOLD Conference set for January

Press release

BOZEMAN — Representatives of the Montana FFA Foundation said the foundation is excited to host the sixth annual Torgerson’s Growing Our Leaders’ Development — GOLD — Conference in Bozeman following the new year.

This will be the fifth year that this event has been sponsored by long-time Montana FFA supporter Torgerson’s, LLC.

The GOLD Conference takes place Jan. 4-6 in Bozeman. The leadership development conference is designed for high school seniors and college freshmen who desire to continue their leadership after their time in the FFA jacket.

Through a series of professional development workshops, interviews, personal growth reflections, career panels, and networking activities that are organized by current and past Montana state officers, FFA alumni and Torgerson’s, the participants of GOLD are taught skills that will guide them to become the next generation of Montana leaders.

The goals of this conference include student self-discovery, self-awareness and confidence in the skills they possess, improving interviewing skills, understanding the service of an FFA state officer, creating lasting connections with other members, and realizing how to be a servant leader in agriculture beyond the FFA.

“Torgerson’s GOLD Conference helped me pinpoint my ‘why’ and discover my strengths as a leader,” Morgan Weidow, this year’s Montana FFA state president, said. “The interview practice, workshops, and networking allowed me to practice skills I use daily that are essential to my career goals.”

Montana FFA members who are high school seniors or one year removed can apply online to attend the GOLD Conference until December 20 on the Montana FFA website at http://www.montanaffa.org/applications/.

People who are interested in volunteering to help support the growth of FFA members at the GOLD Conference can contact the Montana FFA Foundation at 406-582-4118.

The Montana FFA Foundation supports 97 FFA chapters across the state of Montana, representing more than 5,300 members.

The Montana FFA Foundation’s mission is to cultivate partnerships, promote awareness and secure resources to enhance agricultural education and the Montana FFA Association.
