Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 wrapped up its 2018 Blanket Drive and inaugural Veteran’s Giving Tree with a distribution Wednesday at the lodge.
“This year with the Blanket Drive, we were able to assist 25 individuals in making sure they will stay warm during the winter season,” Lodge Secretary and event Chairperson Brandy Kurtz said. “We also were able to assist our furry four-legged friends with donations of many blankets to the Havre Animal Shelter, RezQ Dogs and PAWS in Chinook.
“Our inaugural Veteran’s Giving Tree helped eight veterans in our area with gifts to make their holiday season full of joy and good tidings,” she added. “Thanks to our membership, and other great organization like Beta Sigma Phi, and the Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club, we were able to ensure the veterans received everything on their Christmas wish list.”
“As Elks, one of our main focuses is helping the communities our lodge serves,” Lodge Exalted Ruler Kyle Leeds said. “Last year, lodge members saw the need for blankets to be distributed at no cost to individuals and pets. We were glad to continue and expand this program for a second year.”
“The veteran’s giving tree came from our lodge’s outstanding veteran’s committee, and we look forward to being able to help even more veteran’s have a merry Christmas with their loved one’s next year,” he added.
