Sunnyside Intermediate School administration reported to the Havre Police Department Thursday finding a threat written on the wall of the boys bathroom referencing a school shooting.
Havre Public Schools Superintendent Andy Carlson said this morning that the school district resolved the situation. He added that at no time were students and staff in danger.
Carlson declined to say if the district knew who wrote the threat, just saying that the issue had been resolved.
Carlson said the school district tries to inform the community of these incidents as accurately and quickly as possible.
The annual Trade Fair scheduled for Thursday at the school ran as scheduled
The Havre Public Schools website said that it was just before noon that Sunnyside Principal Carmen Lunak was informed of the threat. The school responded by going into “Hold in Place” status, where the movement of students and staff is temporarily limited.
The website said the threat was assessed by district administration with the support of the Havre Police. The administration determined the threat was not credible, and the Hold in Place was then lifted.
Police Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning that the school district reported the matter at 12:11 p.m. The district and the police investigated the matter, he said, and decided that the district would pursue the investigation.
He said that the school knows who made the threat.
