The state Judicial Nomination Commission announced that after collecting public comment and interviewing applicants it has submitted the names of three applicants to take the position of state district judge in Chouteau, Hill and Liberty counties.

The commission said it submitted the names of Havre attorneys Randy Homer Randolph and Kaydee Nicole Snipes Ruiz and Big Sandy attorney Thomas J. Sheehy for consideration.

The person appointed would take the place of Dan Boucher, who resigned in November.

The person appointed by the governor must be confirmed by the Senate during the 2019 legislative session. The position is subject to election in 2020, and the successful candidate will serve the remainder of the term, which expires in January 2025.

The Judicial Nomination Commission members are District Judge John C. Brown of Bozeman; Janice Bishop of Missoula, Karl Englund of Missoula, Elizabeth Halverson of Billings; Hal Harper of Helena; Lane Larson of Billings; and Nancy Zadick of Great Falls.
