Obituary - Karen Elaine (Nelson) Wall

Karen Elaine (Nelson) Wall, 76, passed away at Northern Montana Hospital on December 4, 2018.

A celebration of life will be held on December 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre, Montana. Karen requested that attendees wear bright, colorful clothing.

Karen was born on April 4, 1942 in Havre, MT, to Lenus and Eleanor (Koutnik) Nelson. She graduated from Kremlin High School in 1960 and was valedictorian of her class. She attended Concordia College and Northern Montana College, where she earned a teaching degree. She worked as a teacher at the Gildford elementary school and loved her students; each unique and special to her in their own way. She later worked for the EFNEP program through the extension office, teaching nutrition to children and adults for 12 years. She then worked as a case manager for Golden Triangle Mental Health Center until her retirement.

She married the love of her life, Leo Wall, in 1963. The couple made their home on the family farm near Kremlin where they raised their two children, Mike and Angie. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and never missed an opportunity to support her children and grandchildren whether it was in school, on the field, court, or hockey rink.

Karen was compassionate, considerate, kind, caring and genuine. She had a heart of gold and a passion for helping others. Karen touched the lives of everyone she met. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, baking, lake days at Fresno and spending time with her family and grandkids. She was always ready for an adventure and loved spontaneous road trips. She was a member of the Kremlin Lutheran church, where she helped share the role of organist for many years. She was also a member of the Hill County Community Foundation.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leo Wall; her two children, Mike (Raeanne) Wall of Havre, MT, and Angie (Todd) Hansen of Gildford, MT; her five grandchildren, Kassidy, Mackenzie, Austin, and Parker Hansen and Kaden Wall; her sister, Linda (Larry) Martinson of Billings, MT; and her niece, Lisa Martinson of Glasgow, MT.
