Ray Harwood, 81, passed away surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Benefis Peace Hospice of natural causes.
Wake services will begin at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Glacier Homes Community Center. Rosaries will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at Glacier Homes Community Center. Funeral services will be held at Little Flower Parish Thursday, December 6, at 1 p.m. Burial Services will follow at the Babb Cemetery.
Ray was born on March 12, 1937 in Browning, Montana, to Robert and Iola (Barse) Harwood. He was raised in Browning and Sisseton, SD. He attended school in Sisseton and Wahpeton, ND. After moving back to Browning in 1954 he worked various jobs, including bartending, construction, and as a dude wrangler. He met his sweetheart, Carma Whitford, in 1968. They were married in 1969. To this union they raised four sons. While raising his four sons he worked road construction.
He is survived by his loving wife, “D.A.”; sons, Lil Ray, Ronnie (Windy), Sheldon (Brandy), Scott (Cheryl) and Randy; his sisters, Dorothy and Lorraine, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Iola; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Maude Harwood; maternal grandparents Bell and John Barse; brothers Bobby, Dick, Dan and Skip, and his daughter, Alberta.
