National day of mourning set for Wednesday

The entire nation will join people at the funeral for George H.W. Bush in Washington Wednesday in mourning the nation’s 41st president.

President Donald Trump has ordered the federal government closed Wednesday for a national day of mourning. Flags on public buildings are flying at half-staff for 30 days.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock ordered all flags at public buildings in Montana flown at half-staff from last Saturday through Dec. 30.

All federal agencies will be closed Wednesday in observance of the national day of mourning, including post offices and U.S. Department of Agriculture offices.

The remains of Bush traveled from Texas to the Capitol Rotunda in Washington Monday, to remain in mourning until his invitation-only funeral Wednesday in the Washington National Cathedral.

He will return to Houston after the services and will be buried there Thursday alongside his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush, who died in April, and Robin Bush, their daughter who died from leukemia in 1953 at age 3.
