With Rocky Mountain College's loss at Morningside last Saturday in the first round of the NAIA playoffs, the Frontier Conference football season officials ended.
On Wednesday, the league announced its 2018 All-Conference Team and postseason awards.
For the second year in a row, no Montana State University-Northern players were named to the All-Conference team, which is voted on by the league's eight head coaches. Northern senior quarterback Tommy Wilson was named Northern's recipient of the Frontier NAIA Champions of Character Award.
As for the league's postseason honors, Rocky Mountain College quarterback Jacob Bakken was named Frontier Offensive Player of the Year. A senior from Wibaux, Bakken threw for 3,448 yards and 35 touchdowns, both tops in the Frontier. He also finished second in the league in total offense.
UM-Western linebacker Jason Ferris was named the Frontier Defensive Player of the Year. The junior from Dillon averaged 12.5 tackles per game with 125 total stops. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss.
Rocky Mountain head coach Jason Petrino was named Frontier Coach of the Year. In just his third season, Petrino led the Battlin' Bears to an outright Frontier championship and a playoff berth.
On the All-Conference list, Rocky had the most selections with 13, including seven First-Team selections. Southern Oregon was next with 11 players honored, followed by Carroll College and Eastern Oregon, each with eight. College of Idaho and Montana Tech each had six players named, while Western had three.
