Non-credible threat found in North Star High School

Reward for high school threat info upped to $900

Havre Police Department announced Havre/Hill County Crimestoppers is now offering a reward of up to $900 for information on a threat discovered in Havre High School.

Today’s announcement comes the day after a threat was found in North Star High School in Rudyard.

The threat discovered Thursday in Rudyard, written on a high school lab wall, said a shooting would occur Wednesday,  Hill County Sheriff Jamieson Ross said this morning. As it was found after the fact, it was determined not to be credible.

In a letter to the parents of North Star students, Superintendent Bart Hawkins said the school kept students in the classes they were in Thursday and questioned students to gain information.

Practices and after-school activities were canceled after school Thursday, and North Star does not hold school on Fridays.

Hawkins said student searches and restrictions to schools could be used as necessary.

Ross said the Hill County Sheriff’s Office will provide enhanced security at the school.

North Star only has classes Monday and Tuesday of next week before the Thanksgiving holiday.

In regards to the reward on the Havre High School threat the reward amount, which was listed at $200 Thursday, has been increased due to donations from community donors, a release from the police department said.

Monday, a threat was left in the boys bathroom at the high school.

Classes were not held Tuesday and the school now is operating under lockdown conditions.

Poeple with information or knowledge leading to the arrest or conviction of the suspect or suspects will be eligible for a reward, the release said.

People with with information are asked to call Crimestoppers at 265-4444.  All callers will remain anonymous.
