Blue Pony spikers earn 2018 Central A honors

The Havre High volleyball team came up one match short of qualifying for the Class A state tournament. Yet, despite missing out on state, the Blue Ponies had a stellar season and that was backed up by the Central A All-Conference awards.

Of course, Belgrade, which won the Class A state championship once again, took home many of the spots on the Central A All-Conference team, four of six to be exact. However, Havre’s Cassidy Acor earned First-Team All-Conference honors, while also playing her way onto the Class A All-State team. She was joined by Belgrade’s Bailey Christensen, Taylor Christensen and Olivia Cook, as well as Anna Zimmer on the All-State team for Class A. The other First-Team All-Conference member was Jaiden Blakely of Belgrade.

While Havre had just one player earn First-Team honors, it had two players get named Second-Team Central A All-Conference and those spots went to Jessa Chvilicek and Sam Oliver. Senior Kadyn Acor earned Honorable Mention All-Conference for Havre and Tamecia Jarvis was named Central A Coach of the Year for the second time.

As a junior, Cassidy Acor put together an outstanding season for the Ponies that included a conference-best hitting percentage of .337, as well as 226 kills, which ranked third in the Central A. Chvilicek ranked fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.200) and kills 148). The junior also led the conference in blocks with 52. Kadyn Acor ranked 10th in that same category with 16.5.

Oliver earned Second-Team honors for the second straight season and did so by recordings 56 aces, good enough for third in the Central A, and 439 assists, which was also third. Oliver was also sixth in the league in digs with 193.
