Quick Pics: Montana vibes at Artitudes

This painting is one of the pieces of artwork in Artitudes Gallery's featured show, "Feeling the Montana Vibe" by Kerma Boyum Sarmiento. The gallery in the Atrium Mall will host an artist reception Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and people are invited to come listen to live music, have refreshments and visit with guest artist Sarmiento. Born and raised on a farm north of Havre, Sarmiento said she grew up with a deep love of nature and animals that were abundant around the farm. In grade school, she discovered a talent for art and would sketch mostly horses and dogs. She eventually branched out, doing landscapes and seascapes. Other than taking an art class in high school, Sarmiento is self-taught. She has won many awards as an artist. In her spare time, she said, she likes to ride her bike, hike and golf.
