Friday's Prep Football: Miles City downs Havre

The Havre High football team played host to Miles City Friday night in the final home game of the season for the Blue Ponies. But unfortunately for Havre, it was the Cowboys who emerged victorious on senior night.

There were some bright spots, such as a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Mason Dionne in the first quarter, as well as a touchdown reception by senior Ethan Roberts in the closing seconds. But outside of that, it was all Miles City in a 40-14 win.

On top of his touchdown catch, Roberts intercepted a pass in the second quarter with Havre trailing 12-7. However, the Ponies couldn't turn the takeaway into points and after that, Miles City scored twice before half to make it 26-7 at the break. Miles City added two more touchdowns in the second half to go up by as much as 40-7, before the Roberts touchdown made the final margin 40-14.

Havre finished the season 2-7. Miles City is 6-3 and will take on Belgrade next week in the Class A state playoffs. For more coverage of the game, see Monday's Havre Daily News.
