One week is all that stands between Hi-Line volleyball teams and postseason play. And that’s why last week was such a big one for high school volleyball.
The action started with a huge District 6C East match in Gildford last Thursday night between the top two teams in the league. And the visiting Chinook Sugarbeeters came away with a 25-21, 26-24, 26-24 win at North Star. The win cemented first place for the Beeters, who got a huge 20 kills and six blocks from Kourtney Hanson. Olivia King had 10 kills and Paij Peterson tallied 14 assists and two aces for the Knights.
Another big conference match took place Friday night, when the Box Elder Bears swept the Big Sandy Pioneers by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-23. The win gave Box Elder a hold on third place in the 6C East.
In Class B action, Harlem started the week with a sweep of Hays-Lodge Pole, while Rocky Boy feel in straight sets to Cut Bank, by scores of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-14 Friday.
A busy Saturday was also on tap for the Hi-Line.
And Chester-Joplin-Inverness had a great Saturday with a five-set win over Big Sandy. The Hawks upended the Pioneers by scores of 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 15-7 in an exciting match. Khloe Kamerzell had a match-high 16 kills for CJI, while Sam May had two blocks and five aces. Jaylyn Cline totaled 13 kills and a block for the Pioneers.
North Star bounced back to beat Valier Saturday night in a non-conference match. The Knights won by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-22, behind 14 digs and three blocks from Janae West.
Chinook got over another big hurdle Saturday with a sweep of Box Elder. The Beeters beat the Bears by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18. Kourtney Hanson came up big again with 17 kills, while Ginger Hauer had 18 assists and 10 digs. Lilly Gopher tallied 10 kills and six assists for the Bears.
Also on Saturday, Harlem was swept by Glasgow in a 1B match, by scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-13. Skylee Dirden had three kills for the Wildcats.
