News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

What is time?

You know, Lord, as we check our calendar, we notice that some months are full of birthdays of special folks we know, many that we’re related to!

Their ages range from newborn to elderly. How awesome is that!? It’s unique, when we think about it, that You, Lord, have a plan for all of us and that nothing takes You by surprise. We’re all moving along, hopefully, according to the Your “plan.” We know that the devil has a “plan” also, to mess things up, and we know that we, personally and individually, have to decide which plan to follow, which plan we’ll fit in.

Your word reminds us that You have allowed us 70 years and some beyond. As we’re racing along through life, did we even think about that? The first 15 years are spent in childhood and early adolescence? Then how about realizing that 20 years are spent in bed and the last five of those years, someone wrote that our physical limitations start to curtail our activities. That gives us about 30 years in which to live as adults. Now, we know that we take time out for eating, for figuring taxes, etc., and that puts us down to about 15 years.  Suppose we spend seven of those years watching television — that will cut us down to seven or eight years. Mercy, Lord, our time here is short! The time we can invest for You, Lord, in creative things and in reaching our fellowmen for You is short!

When we get serious and think about it, each hour of every day that is left of this earthly life for us, we should think about spending some of that time serving You. Reading James 4:14, (KJV) “For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

Love, Mara
