Obituary - Michael Wendland Kaftan

Our beloved brother, father, and grandfather, Michael Wendland Kaftan, 57, died in his sleep on October 7, 2018.

Michael was born in Sidney, Montana, to Robert and Genevieve Kaftan on November 3, 1960. Raised in Havre, Montana, he graduated Havre High School in 1979. On December 29, 1982, Michael married Pat Forman, with whom he had two sons. The couple later divorced but remained friends.

Family was most important to Michael. He was the proud father of sons, Tyler and Jason, and grandfather of grandson, Carson. He cherished his relationships with brothers, sisters-in-law, cousins, and extended family connections.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy, parents, Robert and Genevieve, and his brother Gary.

Michael leaves behind his sons, Tyler and Jason; grandson, Carson; brothers Rick (Barb), Alan (Kim) and Jon (Gina); step daughters, Brooke Kessler and Morgan Hove; along with numerous, cherished cousins, nephews and nieces.

Michael had a very caring and industrious spirit and an extraordinary talent for forging meaningful relationships and leaving a positive impact on the lives he touched. Michael's gregarious personality and sense of humor were refreshing to all who knew him.

Although Michael's family and friends will miss him tremendously, we know he is at peace and in a better place. We look forward to seeing him again, in Heaven, healed of his sorrows.
