Northern Montana Hospital Volunteer Dorothy Denison, form left, Northern Montana Sletten Cancer Center Receptionist Erin Duitsman, Dr. Mohammed Kanaan, oncologist at the center, and Brian Williams, vice president of professional services for Northern Montana Health Care, pose for a photograph Friday with hats Denison crocheted and donated to the Image Center at Slettent. Denison donated 18 hand-crocheted hats to the Image Center at the Northern Montana Sletten Cancer Center. She crocheted the hats as a tribute to her late son, Howard Jay Woods, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer earlier this year. Yarn for the hats was donated by Dotty Rice and the Northern Montana Hospital Volunteers. These hats will be distributed to the patients at the Sletten Cancer Center who are experiencing hair loss due to their treatments. Denison was able to knit a pattern on several of the hats in Morse code, sending messages to the cancer patient who will receive it. "Many folks will benefit from Dorothy's efforts and we wish to sincerely thank her," representatives of the center said in a release.
