People release purple balloons Saturday at the public parking lot at Fifth Avenue and First Street after the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk. The number of the people in the walk more than doubled from last year, with more than 70 people braving temperatures in the low 40s to run or walk the 5-kilometer course in support of victims of domestic violence and to raise awareness.
