Passion for praise
You know, Lord, when sitting upon a hilltop surveying all within eyesight, one might wonder about the river meandering below; who knew how much water to put into it, what is the water’s source and what is its destination.
Then along comes a merry little breeze which is not seen nor can anyone touch it nor can anyone move it. One might wonder who knows where the breeze lives or where it is going to go from here.
While on the hilltop observing the panorama view one could consider the earth, the various contours, or even the depth of the dirt. Your word, Lord, says that the nations are regarded as a speck of dirt on the scale.
Then, how about studying the horizon: when we were kids back home, we could see several Mountain Ranges, miles away from us. Even driving through them we could not help but notice shapes, sizes, colors and notice, too, the fashion and formation and the hills both large and small.
Oh, the clouds! Who tells them their flight plan? And the heavens — what is its span? Lord, Your word says You even call the stars by their names and know the number of their hosts!
And then the stars! From Psalm 8:3-4 “When we look at the night sky, we see the work of Your fingers — the moon and the stars that You set in place — what are people that you should think about them, mere mortals that You should care for them?”
Another Passage of Praise is found in Isaiah 40: 12-26 (quoting only verse 12): “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breath of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?”
