Havre Trails hosting hike and stargazing

Press release

Saturday, Havre Trails invites the local community to hike the new Rotary Canyon Loop Trail in Beaver Creek Park, followed by a stargazing event above Rotary Falls.

The Rotary Canyon Loop Trail is 1 mile long, round trip, and the hike will begin at 6 p.m. The stargazing event will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend.  Attendees are encouraged to dress in warm layers and bring lawn chairs for stargazing, as well as mugs for hot chocolate. After a tour of the constellations, a viewing session with telescopes will wrap up the evening.

In the event of inclement weather, high winds, cloudy conditions, etc., the program will be canceled on site and on the Havre Trails Facebook page.

The Rotary Canyon Loop trailhead is located just past the Bear Paw Lake, Second Lake, spillway at the north end of the lake. The Dark Skies star viewing area is located nearby at the Rotary Falls turnoff just north of the Bear Paw Lake turnoff. Both turnoffs are approximately 15 miles south of Havre. After nightfall, a flashing red light will identify the stargazing area.
