The Havre High golf teams reached the finish line Saturday in Hamilton, and while the Class A state tournament may not have yielded the kind of success the Blue Ponies were looking for, it won't take away from an outstanding season on the links.
The Havre golf teams wrapped up the season at this weekend's state tourney in Hamilton, with the HHS boys finishing 10th with a team score of 770, and the Pony girls placing eighth with a score of 906. Laurel swept the boys and girls team titles.
As has been the case all season, the HHS girls were led by senior Teagan Fee, who finished in 17th place overall. Fee shot rounds of 94 and 101 at the tough, Hamilton Country Club. Fellow senior Kinzee Peterson shot 102-109-211, while sophomore Jocelyn Staples scored 111-111-223, and freshman Sophie Kirkpatrick rounded at the scoring for the ponies at 134-144-278.
On the boys side, Havre was paced by sophomore Josh Warp, who shot rounds of 92 and 88 for a 180. That score put Warp inside the top 40 overall. Caleb Chambliss carded rounds of 100 and 95 for a 195, while Nolan Lotton went 105-94 for a 199. Sophomore Clint Owens shot 98-105 for a 205 and junior Tyrel Kjersem finished 103-100 for a 203.
Libby's Ryggs Johnston completed an incredible high school golf career by winning his second straight Class A title, to go with two Class B state championships. Johnston shot rounds of 67 and 70. Tricia Joyce of Butte Central won the girls individual state championship.
