Bonnie was born to John G. Meyers and Nancy (Knife) Meyers in Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, Montana, on February 1, 1958. She attended school in Rocky Boy and Box Elder, and she found her calling crafting and repairing regalia, making necklaces, sewing outfits, and doing beadwork for powwows. She was well known for her meticulous costumes and beadwork which people traveled many miles for her artistic skills and talents.
Her children Buffy and Bryson followed her in her traditional ways, becoming traditional and grass dancers for whom she created and maintained regalia. She always was a gracious host inviting friends, family and powwow patrons to her humble home, cooking, sharing stories and demonstrating her amazing artistic talents. Bonnie also loved to travel, and she enjoyed being helpful at powwows all over the west and Canada. She absolutely loved her grandchildren, spoiling them with cakes and goodies every chance she could get. She was loved by family and friends near and far, many stopped by for tea and cookies, or just to say “Hello.”
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father and mother, John Gilbert and Nancy Knife Meyers; brothers John E. Meyers and Duane M. Meyers; sister Karen Jo Knife Meyers; and niece Jennifer C. Big Knife.
She is survived by daughter, Buffy Lee Youpee; son Bryson Jermaine Meyers; brother Donald Dale Meyers; sisters Diana (Dave) Upchurch, Maria Sponsler, Edna Meyers, Betty (Mark) Collins, Carol Ivy Meyers, and Ivy J. Meyers; and numerous nephews, nieces and grandchildren.
