News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara

So much depends

You know, Lord, it’s been quite a while ago now, but no fooling, there have actually been columns and reviews written about “So much depends … .”

So much depends on … how we choose to look at our life. We can wake to a dark and dreary day and that’s all we see. Our mood matches the day; we accomplish nothing while those around us, soon emulate us. Or we can see the drizzle for what it is, drops of hope and love. Wouldn’t it be nice if we sprinkled some hope and love around?

We look at our children and we see that the years have flown by so very fast. We might stop to think, “What happened to yesterday, or last year? How did our precious little ones grow up so tall and so smart?” And then we think that all we do is give, give, give. The grocery bills must be many miles long by now, while the children all seem to have hollow legs!

Our career may not have been as a mountain climber, but we’re pretty sure that we have washed a huge mountain of laundry with no end in sight. Or we can see hugs and laughter, tears and love. Lord, You gave us children to train up to love and serve You. We’re to be their example.

We can take a look at our own lives; what a fine mess we have gotten ourselves into without any help at all from others. Or we can choose to see each new day as a new beginning, a hopeful future and know that we have given our best.

So much depends, Lord, it depends on where we place You in our lives; it depends on how much control we allow You to have in our lives, how we choose to obey.

Yes, Lord, so much depends …

Love, Mara
