This featured yard is also an anniversary surprise. R.L. Grant wants his wife, Dede, to know how much he appreciates her diligent work in their yard. He hopes it doesn't go unnoticed by others, too.
21 River Road is a charming setting just north of town. The Grants have nine acres with a handsome log home that is surrounded by years of hard work. Dede gets the credit for all the flower beds including the rustic touches, wagon wheels and ferns in the front yard. The backyard and greenhouse are equally amazing. The entrance to the green house holds two giant copper pots that have been in the family for years that she has filled with massive plants. A huge gear that R.L. plucked from the river makes a stunning piece of yard art. Virginia creeper covers many areas naturally as well as different plants arranged in unique containers placed in optimum locations. An old woodstove or a rusty old hand pump combined with plants are perfect for the homey setting.
These Havre natives take pride in their flower and vegetable gardens alike.
Here's hoping for many more years of enjoying gardening as husband and wife.
Happy 38th anniversary Sept. 24.
