Another one has left this earth; their leaving breaks our heart.
It tears us up and we’re afraid, it’s rough to be apart.
To cope with loss, the empty nest, we struggle and feel pain.
Grieving takes time, there are some days our lives just seem to drain.
Adjustment seems to take a while; our sorrow is not done?
Some “work” will surely come to mind; maybe we’ll still have fun?
It can be hard to accept death, what hits us first is shock.
Our life seemed great, then word came in, news hit us like a rock!
Sunshine did pass and shadows fell, release is next in line?
Then loneliness — it happened fast, this broken heart is mine.
Dear one was near, a great helpmate, we could depend on him.
The years flew by — many or few, now we’re out on a limb.
One thing we know, life here is brief, Heaven awaits, we know.
New normal comes, we’re in God’s care, and when He calls, we’ll go!
While we’re still here, help us to love our neighbors, friends and kin.
No one’s perfect, we need God’s grace(1), and with Him we all win!
