Local Golf Report: NMH, Jensen win titles at Prairie Farms

From Tee to Green

It was a week of championships at Prairie Farms Golf Course this past week.

Last Thursday, the 2018 ladies league playoffs concluded with an exciting championship match that had to go to an extra hole to be decided.

In the championship match, Northern Montana Hospital defeated Double R by one half a point to capture the ladies league title. NMH was composed of Patti Nault, Carol Culp, Mary Pizzini, and Terri Earl. Double R was made up of Ali Ward, Connie Peterson, Tammy Boles, and Dawn Ward. Congrats ladies on a great season.

Prairie Farms also held its Men's Club Championship this past Sunday. As it should, the course played tough, and tested all of the golfers in the field. And for the third straight year, Jeremy Jensen bested the field, shooting an outstanding even-par 72. Great job Jeremy. You are definitely the man at Prairie.

Other flight winners included Patch Wirtzberger (3rd flight), Cal Wirtzberger (4th flight) and Eric Wilting (5th flight). Oh, I almost forgot the guy who won the second flight. I'll leave his name out, but he's the guy who writes this column every week.

Prairie Farms isn't done handing out club championships either. The women will hold their club chipper Sept. 16.

Men's championships are still to be determined, too, both at Prairie Farms and Beaver Creek Golf Course.

Tonight, Prairie will host the men's league semifinals, with Tire Rama taking on Hub Insurance and Master Sports battling Patrick Construction.

In last week's first round Tire Rama beat Stockman Bank, D.A. Davidson took down Rock Solid, Hub beat B.A. Ranch, Valley Furniture defeated Tilleman Motors, Master Sports took care of Hole 19, Korb Construction defeated Vic's Place, Wagner Plumbing defeated Michelob Ultra and Patrick beat BPCU.

In the semifinals last Wednesday, Tire Rama took down D.A. Davidson, Hub defeated Valley Furniture in a playoff, Master Sports beat Korb and Patrick defeated Wagner Plumbing.

The men's league playoffs will resume tonight and conclude Wednesday. The BCGC semifinals are set for Thursday, with the championship match next week.

The Blue Pony golf teams will also be at BCGC today. Havre is hosting a junior varsity tournament, featuring Lewistown and Browning. The Pony varsity team was set to compete in the Lewistown Invitational Monday, but that tourney was washed out. Havre heads to Harlowton Thursday for a match-play event, which I think is really cool, and then the Ponies will be off for Labor Day.
